Price Hero – Do more with what you own

Thank you for using Price Hero, a service operated by Trendful, Inc. (“Price Hero,” “we,” “our,” or “us”).

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the Price Hero website, web app, and mobile apps for iOS and Android (the “Service”).

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, please do not use Price Hero.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways:

Information You Provide

Account information: when you create an account (e.g., name, email address, and password), including when you sign in with Apple or Google.
Age confirmation: Price Hero is for adults. We ask your birth year (and month, only when needed) to confirm you are 18 or over. We store only that you confirmed it, never your birth date.
Item details: photos, descriptions, prices, and other information you add to your collection or dream list. We remove location and other hidden metadata from photos before storing them.
Questions to Ask Hero: the questions you ask Hero and the earlier messages in that chat. We don’t keep your chats on our servers; they exist only in the app on your device and are gone once the app closes. We keep only a daily count of your questions to apply usage limits.
Communications: when you contact us for support or feedback.
Payment and billing information: when you purchase a paid service (item authentication or the developer API), our payment processor, Stripe, collects your card and billing details to process the payment. Price Hero does not receive or store your full card number — we retain only limited billing records (such as card brand, last four digits, amounts, and invoices) needed for billing and accounting. In the mobile apps, purchases are made through Apple or Google; we receive a transaction record, not your payment details.

Information Collected Automatically

When you use Price Hero, we automatically collect:

Usage data: interactions with the Service, pages visited, and timestamps.
Device data: browser type, operating system, app version, and IP address.
Diagnostics: crash reports and error details that help us fix problems. We strip personal details from them before they are sent.
Notifications: if you allow notifications in the mobile app, a device token used only to send them.
Cookies: small files stored on your device to keep you logged in and improve performance. You can disable cookies in your browser, but some features may not work properly.

2. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

Operate, maintain, and improve the Service;
Identify items and estimate their condition and resale value from your photos;
Respond to your requests and communicate important updates;
Monitor and analyze usage to improve performance and reliability;
Protect the security and integrity of our systems.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.

3. Data Storage and Security

All information is stored securely using Supabase, our cloud data platform provider, and the Service is hosted on Vercel. We use industry-standard encryption and access controls to protect your information. Despite our efforts, no system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

4. Data Retention

We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your account, photos, items, and preferences. Records of paid authentication orders are kept without your name, email, user ID, or item link (we may keep a one-way hash of your email to answer support requests) for accounting, tax, and fraud-prevention purposes.

Items you delete stay in Recently deleted for 30 days so you can restore them, then they and their photos are permanently deleted. Items with an authentication order, including an unfinished checkout, can’t be deleted and are kept as described above.

To improve Price Hero’s own item recognition, we may keep an anonymised copy of item photos, with metadata removed and no link to your account. You can turn this off at any time in Profile → Settings → Help improve recognition. Our AI providers (Anthropic, and OpenAI, which we may use for some recognition steps) do not train on your photos or your questions to Hero; they delete them within 30 days unless they must keep them longer for legal or safety reasons.

5. Cookies

Price Hero uses cookies to:

Keep you signed in;
Save your preferences, and
Collect anonymous usage statistics.

You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings.

6. Children’s Privacy

Price Hero is not directed to individuals under the age of 18.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with information, please contact us, and we will delete it.

7. Sharing of Information

We may share information only in these limited cases:

With service providers who help us operate the Service, only as needed to provide their services:
- Supabase (database, file storage, and sign-in) and Vercel (hosting and site analytics);
- Our AI providers: Anthropic, which analyzes the photos you scan to identify the item and estimate its condition, and answers the questions you ask Hero using your question and details of your items (such as their names, conditions, estimated values and selling options); and OpenAI, which we may use for some of these steps and to suggest the next photo to take. Neither uses this data to train its models. For some categories, photos are first analyzed by our own recognition engine;
- Google Places, when you look for nearby donation options: we send the location you search from and the kind of place you are looking for;
- Algolia (catalog search), Postmark (email), and Sentry (crash reports);
- Apple and Google, when you sign in with them or buy in the mobile apps;
- Stripe, for payments on the website;
- Real Authentication, which authenticates an item from its photos when you order an authentication. We send it the item’s photos, title, brand and category, the services you chose, your name and email, and any notes or serial number you add.
The mobile apps use Google ML Kit to detect items on your device; your photos are not sent to Google for this, though ML Kit reports anonymous usage and performance data to Google.
To comply with legal obligations or respond to lawful requests.
During a business transaction, such as a merger or acquisition, information may be transferred as part of that process.

We do not share your information for advertising or marketing by third parties.

8. Your Choices

You can delete your account and its data at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account) or at pricehero.ai/delete-account.
You can also request deletion of your data by emailing jackie@pricehero.ai.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

If we make significant changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and post the revised version on our website.
